San Francisco’s 18-story federal building was formally dedicated to former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi during a ceremony Monday morning.
The ceremony included the unveiling of a new sign outside the building and the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus singing the national anthem.
There were a host of speakers honoring Pelosi, including former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown, newly elected Mayor Daniel Lurie and Congresswoman Anna Eshoo.
Pelosi – the first female Speaker of the House of Representatives and current representative of California’s 11th District – served in Congress in San Francisco for 37 years.
The building opened in 2007 and houses offices for Pelosi, along with the Social Security Administration, the U.S. Department of Labor, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Department of Transportation.
