Police in San Jose confirmed Tuesday the recent arrest of a shoplifting suspect who was reportedly involved in dozens of separate incidents in San Jose as recently as August of this year.
According to the San Jose Police Department’s press release, the department’s Organized Retail Theft (ORT) Detail has been investigating the numerous shoplifting incidents that have occurred in the city since August 2024. Investigators identified the suspect as 46-year-old San Jose resident Jesus. Delgadillo as the person responsible for the shoplifting. Police said Delgadillo was suspected of stealing more than $18,000 worth of Lego sets and other merchandise from several San Jose Target stores.
Working with the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office, police obtained an arrest warrant for Delgadillo. On November 14, he was located and arrested. Police found stolen property from Target in Degadillo’s vehicle during the arrest. He was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on multiple charges of grand theft and attempted grand theft.
“Four shoplifting incidents is too many – more than 40 is ridiculous,” San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan said in the news release. “I would like to thank our police department’s Organized Shoplifting Unit for their commitment and use of available resources to apprehend those who are causing harm to our community.”
