PLUM BOROUGH (KDKA) – Saturday wasn’t the first time Plum Borough experienced a house explosion.
Last year, in April, a house on Hialeah Drive was razed to the ground, and in 2008, less than half a mile away, another house on Mardi Gras Drive exploded.
A National Transportation Safety Board investigation found that the 2008 explosion was caused by a two-inch gas line that had been hit years earlier.

They found that it had finally failed five years later after it corroded.
According to investigators, it was also another explosion in 1996 involving natural gas.
So far there is no certainty about the cause of Saturday’s or last year’s explosion.
