Score Rams vs. 49ers, live updates: On-the-bubble NFC West teams face off on ‘Thursday Night Football’

The San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams meet Thursday night in an NFC West clash that is crucial to each team’s playoff hopes.

If the postseason started today, neither team would be on the field. The Seattle Seahawks (8-5) are in control of the division, while the Rams (7-6) and 49ers (6-7) are on the outside looking in at the NFC wild card picture. A loss on Thursday would deal a critical blow to the Rams’ postseason hopes and all but knock the 49ers out of contention. The stakes are significant.

Both teams are coming off impressive wins. The 49ers snapped a three-game losing streak with a dominant 38-13 victory over the Bears on Sunday and looked like the reigning NFC champions for the first time in a long time. They will play without left tackle Trent Williams and with a depleted backroom missing Christian McCaffrey and Jordan Mason. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that RB Isaac Guerendo scheduled to play Thursday, while THE is Nick Bosa probably play if he feels good before the match.

The Rams are coming off one of the best wins of the NFL season, a 44-42 thriller over the Bills over six total touchdowns from Josh Allen. Which versions of the Rams and 49ers will appear on Thursday?

  • INTERCEPTION: Brock Purdy was picked off in the end zone

Weft. The Niners had reached the Rams’ 33 when Brock Purdy decided to go deep into the end zone. Instead of Jauan Jennings, he found Rams cornerback Darious Williams. Los Angeles has the ball back with 5:14 left, leading by a field goal.

  • FIELD GOAL: Rams take their first lead

Still no touchdowns. The Rams fail to advance much further and Joshua Karty adds a 17-yard field goal. That’s the first lead of the evening for Los Angeles.

  • Matthew Stafford hits Puka Nacua for the longest win of the night

On one play, the Rams go from their own 33-yard line into the red zone as Matthew Stafford hits Puka Nacua with a deep ball. Rams threaten to take their first lead of the night.

  • Niners go 3-and-out again

    Today, the Niners have one-meter, six-meter, seven-meter, six-meter and six-meter discs. It wasn’t a fun ride at Levi’s Stadium.

  • FIELD GOAL: Rams fall short in the red zone, but tie the game

We still don’t have a touchdown tonight. The Rams got close, reaching the San Francisco 4-yard line, but a holding penalty pushed them back to the 12 and they failed to punch it in from there. Joshua Karty makes a 23-yard field goal to tie the score.

  • Rams drive, convert 4th and 1 in Niners territory

With Blake Corum playing much of the drive at RB, the Rams are getting close to the red zone. Matthew Stafford just converted a 4th and 1 on a QB sneak.

  • Deebo Samuel with another drop

After complaining about not getting enough of the ball, Deebo Samuel drops a third-down pass that hits him right in the hands in a slant pattern.

That would have given the 49ers their first loss. But instead, they have to settle for another field goal. Jake Moody’s 47-yard field goal puts San Francisco back on top, 6-3.

  • Recipients wish they could run like these corgis tonight

  • Where were the corgis?

  • Field goal: Rams 3, 49ers 3

On 3rd and 6, a short catch and run by Puka Nacua gains only four yards.

The Rams look like they’re going for it on 4th-and-2 from the 49ers’ 30, but they were just trying to get an offside penalty.

After a timeout, Joshua Karty kicks a 48-yard field goal to tie the game at 3-3.

  • Have you ever seen the rain?

  • Kobie Turner gets his second sack

Brock Purdy hits George Kittle for a 10-yard gain on 3rd and 8 from the 49ers’ 12. But two plays later, Purdy misses Jauan Jennings on a deep route down the right sideline.

Kobie Turner then gets his second sack of the game on third down, forcing the 49ers to punt.

The Rams take over at the 45-yard line on a 48-yard Pat O’Donnell punt and 10-yard Xavier Smith return. An illegal formation penalty on San Francisco pushes the ball to the 50.

  • The desperation shovel pass is incomplete

On the Rams’ 41 3rd and 5, Matthew Stafford almost gets sacked, but he tries a toss to tight end Colby Parkinson, but it falls incomplete.

After an Ethan Evans punt goes 49 yards, San Francisco takes over on his 10 yards

  • The Kyren Williams ride

Two runs up the middle for Kyren Williams gain 12 yards. But the Rams then try to throw wide of Williams and Talanoa Hufanga eats it for a two-yard loss.

  • Still punting

San Francisco gets an 18-yard reception from Jauan Jennings, but misses a deep shot from Brock Purdy to George Kittle.

After another incompletion on 3rd and 9, the 49ers are forced to punt. But a 47-yard punt takes the Rams back to their 3-yard line.

  • A first quarter like no other for Sean McVay
