NYACK – Drivers have to slow down and give themselves extra time to get to their destination on Tuesday, because considerable wet weather rolls in North California.
Heavy rain is expected until Tuesday evening while an atmospheric river moves over the region.
The National Weather Service has issued a flood advice for parts of Butte, Nevada, Plumas, Sierra, Yuba and Placer Counties until the middle of the morning Tuesday.
A wind advice is also in force until Tuesday afternoon for the Sacramento Valley and northern San Joaquin Valley, with gusts of wind up to 45 km / h.
Localized floods in and near Sacramento County
The National Weather Service had reported floods all day at various locations in and near Sacramento County.
In the Slough House area, Kiefer Boulevard was closed from Jackson Road to Kiefer’s landfill due to floods in the afternoon. A little further east in Rancho Murieta, Deer Creek was overcrowded to Scott Road, which caused a closure of Scott Road between Boys Ranch and Latrobe Roads.
The South Sacramento Division of the California Highway Patrol said that the Southbound Interstate 5 south of Sutterville Road had flooded in the number 1 lane, while Northbound Highway 99 had floods in its number 1 lane.
In the north in Placer County, Placer Road was closed in the Sheridan area between Riosa and Brewer Roads. Southwest in Solano County, the NWS reported floods along Pitt School Road near Interstate 80
Sierra -Chain control
For the Hoge Land, a winter storm -warning came into effect on Monday and will be in force until Wednesday.
People are discouraged by mountain travel during this period, where chain checks will come into effect on Tuesday evening.
From Tuesday evening, chain controls were still in force on the Interstate 80 between Kingvale and Truckee.
There were no active chain controls on Highway 50.
