S&P 500: Airbnb, Blackstone rise on news they join the Index

Airbnb (ABNB) and Black stone (BX) will join the S&P 500 ahead of its September 18 opening as part of a quarterly rebalancing of the S&P Indices. ABNB shares and Blackstone rose on the news Friday evening.

BX Stock and Airbnb will replace Lincoln National (LNC) and Newell Brands (NWL), which in turn will replace Unique (QURE) and Universal insurance holding companies (UVE) in the S&P SmallCap 600.

ABNB shares rose 5.6% Friday night, signaling that it is back above the 50-day mark as it builds the right side of a new, short base. BX shares will test or clear a buy point of 108.77 from a shallow cup base.

Meanwhile, Uniqure fell 3.6% on Friday night, while Universal Insurance lost 4.7%.

Other changes in the S&P index

DE stock will replace Walgreens Boots Alliance (WBA) in the S&P 100. Both Deere (DE) and WBA stocks remain in the S&P 500 index.

Permian Resources (PR), Gaming and Leisure Properties (GLPI), GoDaddy (GDDY), Morning star (MORN), Ally financially (ALLE), Vistra (VST), Vail Resorts (MTN), Sensata Technologies (ST), Weatherford International (KRWD) and Fidelity National Financial (FNF) will join the S&P MidCap 400. They will replace Omnicel (OMCL), Papa Johns (PZZA), Sensitive technologies (SXT), Cathay General Bancorp (CATY), Energizer Holdings (ENR), Xerox (XRX), Highwoods Properties (HIW), TripAdvisor (TRIP), JetBlue Airways (JBLU), and Foot Locker (FL), moving down to the S&P SmallCap 600.

Also joining the S&P SmallCap 600 are Hannon Armstrong Capital for Sustainable Infrastructure (HASI), Blackstone Mortgage Trust (BXMT), Freedom energy (LBRT), Prime Minister (PINC) and Apple Hospitality REIT (APEL).

Properties Income Trust (OPI), AngioDynamics (ANGO), Vanda Pharmaceuticals (VNDA), Orion Office REIT (ONL), Enanta Pharmaceuticals (ENTA), Future fuel (FF), Re/Max. possessions (RMAX), Zynex (ZYXI), Anika Therapeutics (ANIK) and Computer programs and systems (CPI).
