ST. CLOUD, Minn. — According to police in St. Cloud, a man caused five accidents Monday night in two different vehicles, one of which he allegedly hijacked, while intoxicated.
According to police, a 35-year-old St. Cloud man drove a vehicle into a stop sign at the intersection of Eighth Avenue North and Sixth Street North. The man also struck two vehicles.
The 35-year-old man then appears to have deliberately rear-ended one of the vehicles, a van. The van was driven by a 48-year-old man.
After the crash, police say the 48-year-old got out of the van and the suspect got into the driver’s seat of the van. The carjacking victim tried to stop the man from stealing the van and was dragged a short distance, suffering minor injuries.
The suspect allegedly crashed the van into three vehicles. Police said the final crash occurred in the 1200 block of 29th Avenue North. He was arrested after walking a short distance away from the final crash.
According to police, the five accidents resulted in only minor injuries.
The 35-year-old man is being held on suspicion of carjacking, theft of a motor vehicle, reckless driving, reckless driving, hitting and driving under the influence.
