The stock market gained some steam in the last two hours of trading.
The Dow Jones rose 227 points, or 0.5%, shortly before 2 p.m. ET, while the S&P 500 rose 0.4%. The Nasdaq Composite rose 0.3% as Big Tech stocks erased some of their earlier declines.
Market breadth was strong in the wake of this morning’s cooler-than-expected Producer Price Index. Wall Street is now trying to anticipate tomorrow’s consumer price index and the start of earnings season.
