A stolen car reportedly crashed into the main doors and a fence of Bethel High School on Tuesday.
A 911 caller reported seeing a vehicle crash through the school’s gate at 4:40 a.m. Twelve minutes later, security found a Hyundai sedan that also crashed into the front doors. The engine was running, but no one was seen near the car, spokesman Sgt. Darren Moss told The News Tribune.
While officers responded, they were told the sedan had been reported stolen from Graham earlier that morning. The vehicle was recovered and towed from the school, Moss said.
Moss said the integrity of the building had not been compromised and no suspects had been identified as of Tuesday morning.
A spokesperson for the Bethel School District confirmed that a car damaged the school’s doors and fence. The school district is still receiving a damage estimate.
Anyone with information about the car theft or damage to the school is encouraged to call the Sheriff’s Department or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers on their app, website or the Sheriff’s Department app.
