There will be sunshine again Friday as temperatures warm a little more, peaking in the low to mid 40s Friday afternoon.
The dry weather will end Friday into Saturday morning as a warm front approaches the region from the southwest. Colder air ahead of the approaching system could prove cold enough to bring a brief period of some light freezing rain northwest of Philadelphia, but just as precipitation begins to arrive, temperatures will begin to warm.
Right now, parts of our area are under a winter weather advisory until mid-morning Saturday due to the threat of freezing rain, especially in the Poconos and Lehigh Valley.
Some light freezing rain early Saturday morning will have minimal or no impact, followed by just rain showers across the region for the rest of Saturday morning. Along with the rain will come warmer temperatures, with highs reaching the mid-40s Saturday afternoon.
Sunday will be even warmer with highs around 60 degrees. However, the warm-up will still bring several rain showers that will last through the first half of next week. And yes, that includes both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. While it doesn’t look like it will rain all day on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, it does look like there will be showers in the region and you should plan for that opportunity.
Otherwise, temperatures will remain slightly warmer than normal, with highs in the mid-50s, despite the chance of rain in the first few days of 2025.
As always, the NEXT Weather Team will keep you informed!
