Take a look inside some of the coolest offices of Big Tech companies

  • Big Tech companies are known for their unique and often large office spaces.

  • Google’s headquarters, Googleplex, is a top tourist attraction with ultra-modern buildings.

  • Check out some of the coolest tech company offices.

Big Tech companies are often praised for their flashy offices, some of which have entire campuses.

Take Google’s headquarters in Mountain View, California, for example. The Googleplex campus is even considered a top tourist attraction thanks to its ultra-modern buildings.

A T-Rex sculpture stands at the entrance to the main building, reminding employees not to become dinosaurs, CNBC reports.

Big tech companies use their office spaces to visually represent their corporate identity, and it’s yet another way they can attract top talent, says California design firm Ingenuity.

“If the goal is to appear cool and forward-looking, which is the case with most tech companies, a dull and outdated office space won’t do much to support this,” the company said in a post on its website.

It is also said that good office design contributes to employee satisfaction and increases productivity.

The futuristic headquarters consists of a 500,000 square foot building called Endeavor and a 750,000 square foot building called Voyager. Both are “Star Trek” references.

The project’s design director, Hao Ko, previously told Business Insider that the design concept is “rooted in the idea that people do their best work when given a choice.”

The shape of the roof is designed in such a way that the sound reflects without reverberation.

Ko told BI that the ceiling material was selected to help absorb sound. An expansive four-acre “workspace” also includes lush parks and “treehouses” designed for communal gatherings.

The interior looks like a future spaceship.

Ko also said that Nvidia challenged the Gensler team to create spaces inspired by the surrounding nature.

There is plenty of greenery and outdoor space to work.

The New York Business Journal reported that there are several statues of cats around the office, called “The Podcats.”

Mattias Stålhammar, Spotify’s Senior Director and Global Head of Workplace, told the publication that the statues were placed around the building as a nod to the favorite playlist and its many podcast categories.

The building has several podcast recording booths.

It is Google’s second-largest collection of square footage among the company’s buildings, behind the building at 111 Eighth Avenue in New York City, which measures 2.9 million square feet.

Googleplex’s architect Clive Wilkinson designed it after winning a competition in 2004, KQED reported.

He worked directly with Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin to develop the plans.
