TGL Week 5: Rory Mcilroy cannot follow the PGA Tour victory with TGR victory and falls to Lagc from Tommy Fleetwood

Rory Mcilroy, fresh from a victory over Pebble Beach, ran fast on Tuesday evening in reality in TGL, while his Boston Common Golf Club fell 6-2 on the dominant Los Angeles Golf Club. It was not entirely Lakers-Celtics, largely because the Boston Ballfrogs contingent did not have Jayson Tatum or a Larry Bird in the couple. McIlroy, Adam Scott and a mustache Keegan Bradley could not start anything against the trio of Collin Morikawa, Justin Rose and Tommy Fleetwood, while the black-clad LAGC started quickly and never dissolves.

College Basketball and the TGL are working on a battle for broadcasting time on ESPN, and on Tuesday evening Kentucky-Miss Miss was given priority. The SEC game ran long and slightly delayed the start of the TGL competition. That meant that the ESPN viewing audience did not see the players’ walkouts, which had the positive effect to have the golf action start within seconds of the start of the broadcast.

LAGC, last seen Throttling Tiger Woods’ Jupiter Links Golf Club in week 2 with a score of 12-1, jumped on Tuesday evening to a new hot start, powered by Morikawa’s Pinpoint approaches and Fleetwood’s Hot Putter:

LAGC won the first three holes and four of the first five. McIlroy and the Ballfrogs just couldn’t drop putt. The Real-World Green and Fringe are difficult for players to read well, and McIlroy, Bradley and Scott all struggled to bind or win puts to fall from what the feasible distances should have been.

Bradley, who looks like an old-fashioned leaky villain, finally got Boston on the board in the 12th hole of the game and laid his tee-shot within 2 feet of the cup. Rose chased his long binding putt all the way to the edge of the hole, but the ball just passed. But McIlroy immediately put his Tee -shot on the 13th outdoor border, and Fleetwood quickly won the sixth point of the Night of Lagc. Bradley took the second and last point of Boston’s Night on the last hole of the game, but by that time the result result was out of doubt.

Some non -characteristic software glitches surfaced at night. Fleetwood that of course gone to Fleetwood Mactheunjes-Moest a shot again after the simulator had not picked up his first attempt properly. And Morikawa managed to defy gravity with one of his shots:

In general, however, the evening felt more like a real competition – or at least as half of one. LAGC took a 5-0 lead in the singles and seemed to call all night. In the meantime, Boston Common has been reduced to beg LA to throw the hammer (the value of a hole to double) for an opportunity to come back to the game, but Morikawa kept it in his pocket and kept Boston at a distance. Morikawa seemed more involved than he was in his previous outing, and Fleetwood was a charismatic addition to his TGL debut.

Technical glitches aside, TGL settles in a groove as reliable, Low-Stakes Golf Tertainment week night. While winning players are starting to entertain themselves with some more external impressions of emotion, the losers feel the sting. The competitions still feel a bit long, but the product establishes its niche.

Before the game, TGL held a moment of silence for Kultida Woods, mother of Tiger, who died earlier Tuesday morning. Tida Woods was present last week for Woods’s victory over Boston Common, and the broadcast showed her that she liked to view her son at work.

TGL will start next week before he returns for a President Day TripleHeader: Atlanta Drive GC plays LAGC and the Bay GC, and then the Bost Boston Common GC plays.
