The Amarillo Police Department’s Special Victims Unit is seeking the community’s help in identifying a suspect involved in a reported attack this weekend.
APD said the incident happened early Sunday between 3:30 and 5:00 a.m. According to police, a woman was walking to work near SW 34th Avenue and Royal Drive when an unknown male suspect attacked her from behind near the west alley. APD said the woman successfully fought off her attacker and the suspect fled on foot. He was last seen in the 3400 block of Royal Drive.
APD said the woman reported she had previously seen the man in a silver minivan before he approached her on foot.
The Special Victims Unit is asking residents in the area to review any outside security camera footage for possible footage of the suspect walking or running or driving a silver minivan in the area of SW 34th Avenue, Royal Drive and the west rose during that time. frame.
