The Huntington Beach community stands with the victims of a recent mass shooting kitchenette. The M Street Band, who took the stage during the tragedy, played a part in the healing process on Sunday.
Two weeks ago, a gunman opened fire during the M Street Band performance, which killed three people and injured six, including band member Ed Means.
“Luckily they didn’t hit anything that won’t heal, so we’re blessed to be able to escape,” said Means Sunday. “We are very, very lucky.”
Another band member, Dave Stretch, was also injured in the shooting.
Recovered and released from hospital, the band decided to continue playing and organized a benefit concert at the Beer Garden and Old World Huntington Beach last Sunday. The event was organized to raise money for the foundation families of the victims.
“We wondered if this is too early to play again,” said Stretch. “Is it too early to be happy and have fun for something like this?”
The band decided they wanted to spread happiness through music to hundreds of people, playing a three-hour set. Another benefit concert is scheduled for Labor Day at Cook’s Corner.
