An investigation continues in Arcadia following a shooting involving an officer that left a female armed suspect injured.
The incident was initially reported as a person armed with a knife just after 9 p.m. Saturday in the 50 block of California Street.
When officers arrived, they found the suspect’s mother, whom the suspect had reported, a 21-year-old Spanish woman.
Shortly afterwards, the suspect walked up to an officer and at one point took a kitchen knife from her pocket, police said.
Officers gave orders to stop; however, police say the suspect continued to walk up to an officer and raise the knife above her shoulders, “holding it in a stabbing position,” according to a press release.
That was when an officer-involved shooting happened.
Police said the suspect was punched once in the upper body and taken to a hospital where she was admitted in stable condition.
Anyone with information regarding this incident was asked to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Office at (323) 890-5500.
