The Late Jimmy Buffett Remembered By Hawaii Five-0 Boss, Blue Bloods Star: ‘Never Without A Smile’

The late Jimmy Buffett is fondly remembered by those he worked with in two television acting appearances, on CBS’ Hawaii Five-0 reboot and then on CBS’ Blue blood.

Buffett, best known for his detailed descriptions of his “Margaritaville” times, “passed away peacefully on the night of September 1 surrounded by his family, friends, music and dogs,” according to a post on his official Instagram account. While a cause of death was not officially disclosed, TMZ reports it was skin cancer/lymphoma.

Five-0 showrunner Peter M. Lenkov paid tribute to Buffett on Instagram, recalling (with video evidence) how he “once flew me barefoot to Hawaii.” We also tried to buy a seaplane travel company together [but the] FAA killed it.

“Always ready to jump in front of Five-0’s cameras. Never without a smile,” Lenkov recalls. “You couldn’t help but envy the way he lived. As you can imagine, our time together was surreal… for me. He was such a larger than life figure that I was lucky enough to call him a friend. REST IN PEACE.”

Zachary Knighton, who apparently crossed Buffett’s path in early 2020 Magnum PI/Five-0 crossover, responded to Lenkov’s post, saying the singer was “so nice,” “a true legend,” and “incredibly humble for all he’s accomplished.”

Buffett also guest-starred in one Blue blood Season 12 episode, in which he plays a con artist who got his hands on free drinks and meals from Parrotheads by posing as the famous singer; he also appeared as himself at the end of the same episode.

Buffett’s Blue blood scene partner Donnie Wahlberg wrote on Instagram, “There’s a popular audio used for IG footage: ‘if you think you’re the coolest guy in the parking lot, then this guy shows up.’ Jimmy Buffett was that guy!The coolest and one of the absolute nicest guys I’ve ever known.

“I was so looking forward to seeing and working with you again, Jimmy,” Wahlberg added. “Now I look forward to seeing a most heavenly sunset with you one day. My eternal respect and gratitude to you, my friend.”
