Actress Angie Harmon accused an Instacart driver of shooting and killing her dog, then bragging about it in front of her family.

The Law & authority alum said in an emotional Instagram post that she and her daughters are “completely traumatized and beyond devastated” by the loss of their pup Oliver. Police responded to her home in Charlotte, NC, this weekend, and Instacart has launched an investigation. This is what’s going on.

๐Ÿ”Ž What happened?

On March 30, Harmon used Instacart to get groceries delivered. When the driver arrived, Harmon claimed, the man got out of his car, delivered the food and then shot our dog.

The Rizzoli and islands The star claimed the driver saw her Ring camera charging in the house and took advantage of the knowledge it wasn’t being recorded. ‘The police let him go [because] he claimed โ€œself-defense,โ€ Harmon continued.[The driver] had no scratch or bite on him, nor were his trousers torn.โ€

The actress concluded, “He shot our dog with my daughters and myself at home and kept saying, ‘Yes, I shot your dog. Yes, I did.’ We are completely traumatized and beyond devastated by the loss of our beloved boy and family member.โ€

A representative for Harmon had no additional comment when reached by Yahoo Entertainment. Harmon expanded on the incident with a message specifically to the driver on her Instagram Story.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s South Division responded to a report of a dog shot. A police spokesperson told Yahoo that “officers have located and spoken to all parties involved.”

โ€œThe investigation revealed that a delivery person arrived at the residence to deliver consumables. The driver told officers that a dog attacked him while he was inside the home and that he defended himself by firing a single shot, striking and fatally wounding the dog. Another dog was present in the home but did not attack,โ€ CMPD added in a statement.

โ€œNo criminal charges have been filed in connection with this incident, and CMPD is not currently seeking additional parties,โ€ the statement concluded. โ€œCMPD Animal Care and Control also responded to the scene.โ€

๐Ÿฅ• What does Instacart say?

โ€œWe were deeply saddened and disturbed to hear about this incident,โ€ a representative of the grocery delivery service told Yahoo. “We will not tolerate violence of any kind and the shopper’s account has been immediately suspended from our platform. We have been in direct contact with the customer and are working with law enforcement on their investigation.”

A law enforcement representative confirmed to Yahoo that “the status of the case is closed.”

โš–๏ธCan Harmon independently pursue legal options?

Yes, but a legal expert believes that โ€œadditional research would be necessary.โ€

‘The family has potential claims in the civil court for the [alleged] unlawful behavior of the perpetrator. Intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligent infliction, and conversion are all viable causes of action here,โ€ criminal attorney Michel Huff explained to Yahoo.
