Selena Gomez is engaged to Benny Blanco – with a stunner of a ring to prove it.
After receiving double Golden Globe nominations, the Only murders in the building star shared an update about her personal life on December 11. She is engaged to the Grammy-nominated producer and TikTok star.
“The eternal begins now,” Gomez, 32, wrote on Instagram with a series of photos showing off her new marquise-shaped diamond ring. In the comments, 36-year-old Blanco – who has been dating Gomez since 2023 – wrote: “Hey wait… that’s my wife.” (Gomez’s friend Taylor Swift also commented, offering to be a flower girl at the wedding.)
A lot has been invested in the Emilia Perez the actress’ happiness amid her high-profile relationship with teenage Justin Bieber and other suitors, as well as her mental health and health struggles, which she has shared with candor. Gomez called Blanco a “complete light” in her life and said she has “never been loved like this.”
December 2023: Gomez confirms she is dating Blanco
Gomez — who also dated Nick Jonas and the Weeknd — had known Blanco professionally for years; he produced her songs, including “Same Old Love” (2015) and “Single Soon” (2023). They appeared on his song ‘I Can’t Get Enough’ in 2019 – and they looked cozy in a promo photo for it. She also starred in the music video. (Blanco also had a long-term collaboration with Bieber, including 2020’s “Lonely.”)
When a fan posted a photo of them together on Instagram, Gomez confirmed in the comments on December 7 that they were dating, calling Blanco “my absolute everything” and “the best thing that ever happened to me.” She also wrote that the relationship was “6 months” strong, and shared a photo of a “B” ring she wore on her left ring finger. She shared her own photos of them together on her Instagram Stories.
January 2024: Gomez and Blanco debut as a couple
They made their relationship status clear while sitting courtside together and looking cozy at a Los Angeles Lakers game on Jan. 3.

Days later, Gomez brought Blanco to the Golden Globes. While dodging professional photographers, the nominee shared a few of her own snaps on Instagram.
On Jan. 15, she took the producer — who is behind musical hits like Kesha’s “Tik Tok,” Rihanna’s “Diamonds” and Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” — as her plus-one to the postponed 2023 Emmy Awards, where they hugged their seats.

February 2024: Gomez calls Blanco her best friend
Gomez gave fans another glimpse into her life with Blanco, who is also a cookbook author. She captioned the series of photos “My bes fwend.”
March 2024: Gomez praises Blanco’s “good heart” in birthday tribute
When the producer turned 36 on March 8, Gomez led the online tributes. Her photo, along with photos of them kissing and looking all over the world in love, read: “Happy Birthday baby! Your emotional stamina, positive attitude, incredible talent (that blows me away), undeniable humor and loving, kind heart absolutely destroy me. I love you.”
May 2024: Blanco says he wants to marry Gomez
The producer opened up about his relationship with Gomez on SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show on May 14, in which he says she really is his “best friend,” and they laugh together all day. He said Gomez inspires him, saying, “I don’t know a world where it could be better than this.”

When Stern told Blanco he could see them getting married, Blanco replied, “You and me both.” Blanco also said that they had been together for almost a year and revealed that he wants to have children.
July 2024: Blanco and Gomez share ‘I love you’ online
Gomez turned 32 on July 22, and Blanco shared his legacy in his “I Can’t Get Enough” video. He wrote: “I used to play a teddy bear in your music video and now in real life I get to… happy birthday bb! I love you!” She replied in the comments: “I love you.”
September 2024: Gomez says: ‘I’ve never been more loved’
In Vanity Fair’s cover story, Gomez opened up about her relationship with Blanco, saying he loves her in a way no one else does.
“I’ve never been loved like this,” she said. “He’s just been a light. A complete light in my life. He’s my best friend. I like to tell him everything.”
Asked about Blanco talking about proposing to Stern, Gomez said, “He can’t lie. After the interview I was dying of laughter. Like, ‘Do you want to put anything else on the market?'” But she said she was in no rush to get married – she wanted to do it right, not quickly. She also revealed plans to start a family at 35 through adoption or surrogacy, explaining that she cannot bear a child of her own due to her lupus diagnosis.
The couple attended the 2024 Emmy Awards, where she was honored as a nominee.

October 2024: Gomez says Blanco makes her feel ‘the safest I’ve ever felt’ in a relationship
Gomez was asked by the Hollywood Reporter about her decision to share a glimpse of her romance with the world through her social media channels, which is different from her past relationships.
“I think this is the safest I’ve ever felt in a car, and I see a future with this person,” she replied. “And if you put a little bit into it, people aren’t as hungry to hunt you down.” …But there’s so much of my relationship that people don’t see, that’s just mine.
Gomez took Blanco to the premiere of her Netflix film Emilia Perez in Los Angeles on October 21.

While Blanco attended Gomez’s inaugural Rare Impact Fund Benefit Supporting Youth Mental Health in 2023 as a guest, during the second annual event, on October 24, he was there as her date.

November: Blanco says ‘every day is the best day of my life’ with Gomez
Named one of People magazine’s Sexiest Men Alive, Blanco opened up about what he’s like as a boyfriend. He said there are “no competitions,” and that he “pushes out all the stops on every date.” That’s not just treating Gomez to wonderful experiences – she also likes to eat Taco Bell with him – but it’s about ‘being attentive and listening’.
He said his “favorite time to spend with Sel” is the early morning, “because we both wake up really early. It’s like our moment before the rest of the world wakes up. I have a true best friend who I can do anything in the world with, and every day is the best day of my life.”
Gomez was asked during an interview if Blanco received the sexy award CBS Sunday morning and replied, “That’s my husband.” She said he “cares deeply about every little detail of who I am.” She called him supportive, encouraging, inspiring and motivating. Their relationship “brings me joy,” she said.

Gomez shared the big news that she is engaged to Blanco on Instagram on December 11 by showing off her marquise-shaped ring.
“The eternal begins now,” she wrote. In the comments section, he referred to her as “my wife.”
Blanco apparently paid attention to details. Gomez sang about being a “marquise diamond” girl in her 2015 song “Good for You,” and that’s the diamond cut he chose.
Although she didn’t explain the proposal in detail, the series of photos included shots of Gomez sitting on a picnic blanket – with Taco Bell among the provisions – and Blanco kissing her on the head in a closet as they hugged and she dropped the ring to see.
