Traffic delays expected on Highway 14 east of Rochester from August 21-23 due to crack filling

Aug. 20—ROCHESTER — Motorists traveling on Highway 14 east of Rochester should allow extra travel time as crews begin patching cracks, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Crews will be on Highway 14 between Marion Road and Chester Road east of Rochester from August 21-23. During the work, vehicles may wait in line to take turns driving through the work zone, with a traffic controller stopping traffic and then directing vehicles to follow a pilot car.

Motorists can avoid the construction on Highway 14 east of Rochester by taking alternate routes.

Motorists should always be prepared for traffic changes when approaching work zones, including lane closures, lane changes, uneven road surfaces, slow-moving heavy equipment, and slow or stopped traffic. To keep everyone safe, drivers should:

* Please observe the posted speed limit. The fine for speeding in a work zone is $300.

* Drive undisturbed. Avoid using cell phones, mobile devices, adjusting the radio — even eating — while in work zones.
