Donald Trump said Thursday that he will no longer debate Vice President Kamala Harris.
In a post on his website, Truth Social, Trump continued to insist that he won the debate despite his disastrous performance and therefore doesn’t need to do it again. “THERE WILL BE NO THIRD DEBATE,” Trump declaredreferring to this week’s debate and his previous confrontation with President Joe Biden.
In contrast, Harris continues to push for another confrontation. “We owe it to the voters to have another debate,” she said Thursday.
Experts and various polls — from Reuters, YouGov and CNN — suggest Harris has fared much better than the former president. But Trump insisted on Thursday that he had won, turning Harris’ enthusiasm for another debate into desperation to save himself. “When a boxer loses a fight, the first words he says are, ‘I WANT A REMATCH,'” Trump claimed
At the same time, the former president attempted to justify his poor performance by claiming he was attacked by ABC News anchors.
“It was three to one,” Trump said during a phone call with “Fox & Friends,” adding: “It was a rigged deal, as I expected, because if you look at the fact that they were correcting everything and not with her,” the Maine Morning Star reported.
Trump reiterated his opposition to another plausible debate during a campaign rally in Tucson, Arizona. “Because we’ve done two debates and they were successful, there will not be a third debate. Too late anyway, the voting has already started,” he told supporters, CBS News reported.
