North Palm Beach has given initial approval to a master plan to redevelop the old Twin City Mall site into Village Place, a mixed-use complex with restaurants, shops and residential units.
The council granted developer Cypress Realty permission to build up to 14 stories in the center of the site and seven along U.S. 1, down from the developer’s original nine stories.
In return, Cypress must agree to include sufficient “public benefits” — including workforce housing, sustainable building certifications and public art — before the village board votes on the plan a second and final time. That vote could come in September, said Village Manager Chuck Huff.
