Two Hagerstown Community College volunteers were recently recognized for their efforts to support the institution and its students.
Bill Fritts and Belinda Stull were named Distinguished Volunteers on November 15 by the Western Maryland Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. They were honored along with 24 other area volunteers at a luncheon at the Arc of Frederick County.
Fritts has served on the HCC Foundation board since the 2001-2002 academic year and has held various positions, including treasurer, vice president and president. He was instrumental in the Foundation’s 75th Anniversary Endowment Campaign, which aimed to raise money for college scholarships.
“Bill’s tireless dedication and visionary leadership have had a positive impact on thousands of students,” said Ashley Whaley, senior director of university development, in a news release. “His efforts have strengthened our scholarship programs, expanded our donor base and fostered a culture of generosity that will benefit our community for generations.”
Stull, an HCC alumna, has been involved in the university’s fundraising initiatives since 2017. She has worked with the Alumni Office to organize travel-based fundraising programs, raising nearly $111,700 for the HCC Alumni Scholarship Fund.
Stull has been instrumental in organizing travel preview sessions and managing travel arrangements, creating lasting relationships between alumni and the university. During her tenure, the travel program has taken 533 participants on unforgettable journeys.
