UFC 300: ‘We’re probably going to get sued’ after Arman Tsarukyan appeared to punch a fan during a strike

Arman Tsarukyan won the biggest fight of his career on Saturday night at UFC 300, defeating former lightweight champion Charles Oliveira via split decision. But it’s what happened during Tsarukyan’s strike that left fans stunned the morning after.

While walking to the octagon, Tsarukyan got physical with a fan. Several videos were posted on X showing him shaking a fan’s hand with his arm outstretched. Then Tsarukyan reacted very suddenly, turned to the fan and appeared to punch them.

At the post-fight press conference, UFC President and CEO Dana White commented on the incident with his signature blend of humor and bravado.

“Yeah, maybe you don’t want to hover over things and grab people as they walk out,” White said. “These guys are all fucking hyped and whatever; I’m sure we’ll probably get sued, but we’ll deal with that on Monday too.”

Tsarukyan also commented on what happened after the fight via Bloody Elbow.

“He showed me that he wanted to punch me, and I wanted to punch him back, that was all. No one shows me ‘f*** you’ [like that] It doesn’t matter who you are, I’m going to punch you in the face.

“If you’re 200 yards away, I’m not going to hit you, but if you’re close to me, it’s like someone is automatically going to get hurt.”

Tsarukyan hopes that beating Oliveira will give him a shot at a rematch against Islam Makhachev, the fighter he lost to in his UFC debut in 2019. If he gets that rematch, Tsarukyan may want to consider a highly choreographed dance number for his strike. of opening himself up to fan taunts.
