OAKLAND — One person was shot dead in Oakland late Wednesday morning, the fourth victim of the day to die in a shooting in the city over the course of less than 11 hours, police said.
The latest shooting occurred shortly after 11 a.m. on the 2100 block of 106th Avenue, where police received a report of a car crash. Responding officers located the male victim — who was the sole occupant and driver of the vehicle — and determined that the person suffered from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the spot.

Two other shootings early Wednesday claimed the lives of three other people. Officers responded to the 1100 block of 89th Avenue shortly before 1:30 a.m., where two people died in a residence.
Just before 5 a.m., one person was shot and killed in the 1200 block of 18th Avenue. Officers on patrol found a person lying in the street and then determined that the person, a woman, had been shot. Medical personnel arrived at the scene, but she succumbed to her injuries. A second male victim arrived at an area hospital determined to have been injured in that shooting.
The names of the victims killed in the separate shootings have not yet been released, and Oakland Police Department has not announced an arrest of any suspicious information in any of the cases.
