A vegetation fire broke out Friday morning on a rural island in the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta north of Antioch, but it is unclear which fire department is responsible for the area.

In a social media post around 11:40 a.m., Contra Costa County Fire Protection District officials said they were investigating and monitoring the fire, but noted it is not under their jurisdiction.

A spokesperson for Cal Fire said his agency is also not responding to the fire and has not been contacted to assist with the blaze. Officials believe the fire could occur in one of three counties: Sacramento, Contra Costa or San Joaquin.

It is also unclear exactly which island is on fire, as West, Sherman, Winter, and Kimball are all in the same general area.
Officials with the Delta Fire Protection District in Rio Vista did not immediately return a request for information.
