FALL RIVER – Body camera footage from police in Fall River, Massachusetts shows a cornered suspect as he climbed a chimney to avoid arrest and ended up trapped inside.
Suspect trapped in chimney
Police said they had a search warrant for a home on Canal Street Tuesday evening and when they arrived, two suspects fled by climbing onto the roof.
One person reportedly jumped off the roof and onto a car.
The other, 33-year-old Robert Langlias, tried to hide in the chimney and got stuck. Police body camera footage shows Langlias trapped in the chimney as first responders tried to rescue him.
Taken to hospital as a precaution
The video showed Fall River Fire Department and Fall River Emergency Medical Services removing rocks from the fireplace in the home to free Langlias.
Eventually they managed to get Langlias out of the chimney and he was taken into custody.
“Due to his Santa antics, Langlias was transported to a local hospital and medically cleared as a precaution,” police said in a statement.
Langlias was charged with possession of Class A drugs and Class B drugs, along with a number of other charges due to outstanding warrants he had. The police did not say what the outstanding arrest warrants were for.
Tanisha Ibay, 32, was also arrested at the scene, “with less theatrics,” police said in a statement. Ibay was charged with possession of class A and class B drugs.
Police cannot say when both suspects will appear in court.
