Vote for Local High School Artists in the ‘Paint the Plow’ Contest

Dec. 9 – High school students across the state have decorated winter snow plows, and Pennsylvania Department of Transportation officials want the public to vote for their local favorites.

The annual “Paint the Plow” contest is part of PennDOT’s annual campaign to raise awareness about winter driving safety. Students were asked to create a design for the business side of a commercial snow plow with this year’s theme: “Use Your Reason When It’s Freezing.”

Fourteen schools from PennDOT’s District 12 – which includes Westmoreland, Fayette, Greene and Washington counties – will compete for votes, which can be cast at PennDOT.pa.gov/painttheplow.

Competing schools include Central Westmoreland Career & Technical Center, Connellsville, Greensburg Central Catholic, Monessen, Mt. Pleasant and Yough, along with Albert Gallatin, Bethlehem-Center, California Area, Fayette County Career & Technical Institute, Carmichaels Area High School, McGuffey High School, Open Door Christian School and Uniontown,
