MINNEAPOLIS— It’s the start of a sunny and warm weekend in Minnesota, with temperatures reaching the upper 70s on Saturday.

Saturday will see the warmest air of the season so far. Wind gusts of up to 50 km/h bring warmer temperatures, and Sunday is the first #Top10WxDay of the year.

A weak clipper system will dump an isolated shower of rain across northern Minnesota on Saturday, and a red flag warning has been issued for several southwestern Minnesota counties.

The red flag warning goes into effect Saturday at noon and ends at 7 p.m. Blue Earth, Brown, Cottonwood, Faribault, Freeborn, Jackson, Lincoln, Lyon, Martin, Murray, Nobles, Pipestone, Redwood, Rock, Watonwan and Yellow Medicine counties are at risk of extreme fire conditions.

Sunshine returns Sunday, with calm winds and high temperatures in the mid-70s.

A storm on Tuesday is likely to bring a few inches of rain, which will help the ongoing drought.
