Even the best golfers can’t make a hole-in-one for a lifetime, but for Bryson DeChambeau, simply making a hole wasn’t enough: he had to do it above his Texas mansion.
For many, the feat would be unthinkable for fear of an expensive window repair bill, but the two-time US Open winner completed his challenge in just over two weeks.
The 31-year-old posted videos of his attempts on social media. Starting with one shot on his first day, DeChambeau’s rule was to allow himself an extra shot every day.
DeChambeau hit balls from a mat in his driveway and above his $2 million mansion, which is outfitted with floor-to-ceiling glass windows. On his 16th day of trying, after 134 tries, the American Ryder Cup star finally found the bottom of the hole in his backyard.
As the message was relayed to him via walkie-talkie, DeChambeau jumped for joy and shouted, “I can’t believe I finally made that!” Are you kidding?!” before falling to the ground in relief.

It’s been an exciting few weeks for those following the attempts on social media, with his first attempt landing just a foot from the hole and others hitting the pin and flirting with the hole.
The LIV golfer has become one of the leading figures in golf content creation after launching a YouTube channel that featured Donald Trump and saw DeChambeau try his hand at golf with kids’ clubs. The channel has 1.6 million subscribers and the video of the hole in one above his house has already been viewed four million times on X and over half a million likes on Instagram.
DeChambeau had a successful year professionally, beating Rory McIlroy by one stroke to win the US Open at Pinehurst and also finishing eighth in the LIV individual standings.
