Wednesday will be perfect pre-Thanksgiving travel weather in the Philadelphia region. Here’s the prediction.

Travel weather conditions on Wednesday look quite good around the Philadelphia region, with dry weather and mostly cloudy skies. Temperatures will be seasonally mild and no impactful weather conditions are expected along the I-95 corridor.

There may be some consequences for you if you head west Wednesday evening, as a weather system is quickly approaching and will arrive in the Delaware Valley early Thanksgiving morning. This begins our first of several WEATHER ALERTS this holiday week.

Thanksgiving Day will be very wet, with extensive rain until noon. Plan on dealing with half an inch to an inch of rain for anything you do outside Thursday morning.

Turkey trots/fun runs, football games, parades, grilling/frying turkeys, etc… they are all likely to be influenced by Mother Nature. Although it will be a cold rain, it should be just that. Snow will be limited to the highest point of the Poconos, but little to no accumulation is expected this round. Due to the widespread impacts, the NEXT Weather Team has issued a WEATHER ALERT for Thanksgiving morning. Once we reach mid-afternoon the system should be completely out of our area and the transition to colder temperatures will begin.

During Black Friday it will be chilly but dry throughout the area. Highs on Friday are likely to reach the mid-40s before a second wave of cold air moves in from the north. This will be felt strongly this weekend.

Highs on Saturday and Sunday will be in the 30s, but with wind gusts of 20-20 mph, wind chills will be in the teens and 20s for most of the weekend. We be able to on Saturday afternoon it will be freezing – 32 degrees – with a perceived temperature, but that is about as warm as it can get. Sunday will likely stay in the 20s all day.

Dry weather but bitterly cold conditions for this time of year prompt our second WEATHER ALERT in the forecast. Make sure your sprinkler pipes are winterized before this weekend to prevent any pipe problems.

Next week looks cool, but it will be dry for the first few days. The NEXT Weather team will keep you informed of any future changes.

The month of December begins on Sunday, which is also the start of meteorological winter.
