Weekend weather in Philadelphia: Humid Saturday and sunny, warmer Sunday

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Grab your umbrellas and put on those boots because Saturday is going to be a wet day! Saturday has been soggy so far, but don’t worry, the sun will come out tomorrow!

Saturday will see periods of heavy rain and cloud, with mild temperatures peaking at 53 degrees. Saturday night the clouds will clear and some fog will remain, with temperatures dropping to 43 degrees. Low pressure will move north over the Philadelphia region on Saturday, bringing periods of rain.

The normal high for this day in history would be 48 degrees, with a low of 31 degrees.

Although today’s maximum temperature is about 5 degrees higher than expected, these temperatures have nothing to do with today’s historical maximum temperature in 1972.

In 1972, a record temperature of 77 degrees was set for this day!

Spectacular Sunday forecast

But as Annie said: tomorrow the sun will come out! Sunday will be unusually warm with sun and clouds. Temperatures are expected to peak at 64 degrees.

Looking ahead, conditions next week will be warm, cloudy, and you guessed it: wet! Sunday is the only exception to next week’s uncertain weather.

The low pressure that arrived Saturday will be long gone by Sunday and weak high pressure will arrive with sunshine and highs 15 degrees above average in the 60s.

But don’t get too comfortable, summer isn’t here yet!

Wet, warm week ahead

Just as quickly as the sun rises, it will disappear Monday and clouds will move in as another storm approaches the region from the south. Highs for Monday will be in the low 60s.

Rain will fall Monday evening and continue through the early morning commute on Tuesday, with highs in the 50s.

Rain returns to the city on Wednesday and will continue through at least Thursday and possibly early Friday as a major Pacific Coast storm moves through our area. Temperatures will remain in the low 50s during the rain storms.
