What you need to know about the New Yorkers chosen as jurors in Trump’s ‘hush money’ trial

Two days after the start of the criminal trial against Donald Trump in New York, the The first seven jury members have been selectedand they are now charged with deciding the outcome of the first criminal trial of a former president in American history.

The anonymous jurors will hear evidence related to Trump’s allegations participated in a scheme with his former attorney Michael Cohen to falsify records to cover up the refunds he paid to Cohen. The refunds are said to relate to a “hush money” payment Cohen made just before the 2016 election to adult film star Stormy Daniels, who said she had an affair with Trump years earlier.

Trump has denied having an affair with Daniels and has pleaded not guilty to the charges. He accuses prosecutors of pursuing the case for political gain.

The jurors were chosen Tuesday from a group of dozens of Manhattan residents. They all answered questions about their political views, personal lives and news consumption habits before sitting down. All pledged to serve impartially.
