Woman dies after knife attack in downtown Duluth, police say

DULUTH, Minn. – Police are searching for the person who fatally stabbed a woman in downtown Duluth early Friday morning.

Officers were called to the area of ​​West First Street and South First Avenue around 2:15 a.m. for a report of gunfire and a possible stabbing.

They found the victim at the scene with a stab wound to her neck, and she soon died at a local hospital. Her identity and age have not been released.

Shortly afterwards, a man arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound, but left “against medical advice,” according to police. It is unclear if the male victim was connected to the fatal stabbing.

Mayor Roger Reinert released a statement Friday morning expressing his condolences to the victim’s loved ones.

“We will use every tool at our disposal to find those responsible for this tragic incident and hold them accountable for their actions,” Reinert said.
