Last week, a woman was fatally stabbed in a suspected domestic incident in Wake Forest.
The News & Observer and The Herald-Sun now report the most recent homicides in the Triangle online Monday in this new weekly roundup.
An interactive map, searchable database and links to our stories provide details on each death and the status of the investigation.
We are rethinking the way we report homicides and violent crimes.
â–ª We want to rely less on official sources alone, especially on the first stories.
â–ª We want to highlight trends and tell more about the dead and those affected by loss and violence in their communities.
â–ª We want to free up time in our reporters’ schedules to dig deeper in search of better stories.
To do this, we can forego individual stories of deaths when there is little information and sometimes not even a victim’s name.
However, the new murder tracker will include all violent deaths. (See below.) The map allows you to hover on a dot and learn the basic details. The database allows you to search for incidents by name.
As you do this, please know that we are working to learn more about each case, about the victim and the impact their death has on the community.
If you know any of the victims of the murders listed below and would like to tell his or her story, please contact reporters Colleen Hammond at [email protected] or Aaron Sánchez-Guerra at [email protected]
