Although nervous for a while, Inter Miami emerged victorious in the first match of a best-of-three series with Atlanta United in the MLS Cup Playoffs.
The Herons got off to a flying start as Luis SuĆ”rez scored Miamiās first-ever playoff goal inside two minutes, which seemed an ominous sign for the visitors from Atlanta.
But after the home side dominated the ball for a long time and narrowly missed a series of chances, the Five Stripes stunned the home crowd with a goal from Saba Lobzhanidze at half-time.
It looked like it wouldnāt be a Miami night until Jordi Alba fired past Brad Guzan from outside the box to regain the lead in emphatic fashion.
Game two of the series takes place next weekend in Atlanta, and should the Five Stripes tie the series score, it will be decided in a third and final game in Miami.
