Everton endured a terrible start to the season against Brighton and will now go home with a piece of Premier League history.
The Toffees were already 2-0 down thanks to goals from Mitoma and Welbeck, but had an effort of their own disallowed, and were eventually reduced to ten men when Ashley Young was sent off for bringing down Mitoma.
In doing so, he became the oldest player ever to be sent off in the Premier League, aged 39 years and 39 days, ending a terrible afternoon for Sean Dyche’s team.
