1 dead, 1 injured after wrong-way driver at OBT on Christmas Eve

A 62-year-old Eustis woman died after a fatal crash involving a wrong-way driver on the Orange Blossom Trail on Christmas Eve, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

A 39-year-old Orlando man driving a 2008 Kia Optima was northbound in the southbound lanes on OBT and north of Wadswoth Road, FHP said. The woman, driving a 2018 Audi Q3, was traveling southbound in the outside lane on OBT and north of Wadswoth Road.

The man was traveling the wrong way, FHP said. This caused the front of the Kia Optima to collide with the front of the Audi Q3.

The man was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center with serious injuries, FHP said. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

This money is still under investigation.
