1 dead, 7 injured in shooting at Baltimore rally, police say

A man was killed and seven people were hospitalized with injuries in a shooting in Baltimore on Sunday evening, police said.

Baltimore Police Chief Richard Worley described the deceased as a 36-year-old man. The injured were six other men and a woman ranging in age from 22 to 45, he said.

According to Worley, some victims were in critical condition, while others were stabilized.

The violence was reported just after 8 p.m. at a gathering in the 1300 block of Spring Street, Worley said. “At one point it appeared multiple people opened fire,” he said.

He said investigators had recovered multiple weapons and that the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives was assisting with the investigation.

According to Worley, despite the rain, police arrived quickly on the scene and were able to collect and mark possible evidence.

“We have a lot of evidence,” he said, “and we’re looking at a lot of video footage.”

No suspects have been reported.
