ST. PAUL, Min. – St. Paul police say one person was injured after a shooting Monday night.

St. Paul police say officers were involved in a shooting near the intersection of University and Snelling avenues just before 8 p.m.

Police have not yet confirmed details about the incident, but multiple witnesses told WCCO they saw officers shoot a man who they said fired two shots from his own gun before putting it to his head and waving it at officers.

No officers were injured in the shooting.

A WCCO crew spotted a gun lying in the middle of the light rail tracks.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating the shooting.

Metro Transit says Green Line service has been blocked at University on Snelling Avenue “due to police activity.” As of 8:30 p.m., several other Metro Transit routes at Snelling and University Avenue have been rerouted.

The corner of Snelling and University has been a point of contention, as many people who live and work there say the area is a hotbed of crime. Earlier this month, community members grilled politicians at a town hall about cleaning up the Hamline-Midway neighborhood.
