1 killed in Dallas shooting; Police arrest suspect in Salem

One person is dead after a shooting in the 1400 block of SE Monmouth Cutoff Road on Saturday morning, according to Dallas police.

According to a news release, police responded to a report of shots fired around 9:30 a.m. Officers tried to revive the shot person, but he died on the spot, police said.

Police said a suspect was arrested on State Street in Salem.

Police have not identified the deceased or the suspect.

The deceased and the suspect knew each other and there is no ongoing danger to the public, police said.

Police say an investigation is underway.
