MILWAUKEE (CBS Chicago) — Eleven people were injured Saturday afternoon when an escalator malfunctioned at American Family Field in Milwaukee following a game between the Chicago Cubs and the Milwaukee Brewers.

After the game ended, a downward escalator from the terrace to the lodge level malfunctioned and accelerated, the Brewers said in a statement.

Eleven people who were on the escalator at the time were injured, according to a statement from the Brewers.

Five people were treated at the stadium and six others were taken to area hospitals. Their conditions were not reported, but the Brewers said their injuries were not life-threatening.

“Our on-site physician and ambulance service were immediately on the scene and we are grateful for their quick response,” the Brewers said.

The Cubs won the game 5-3.

American Family Field, perhaps better known as Miller Park until the end of the 2020 season, first opened at the start of the 2001 campaign.

Last December, Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers signed a bill that would provide the Brewers with more than $500 million in state money to make necessary improvements to the stadium by 2050.
