TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – An 11-year-old boy was arrested after allegedly fatally shooting his 55-year-old relative at a Florida home they shared Friday morning, according to reports.

Just before 8 a.m., Ocoee police were called to a home near Clarke and Mims roads where they found 55-year-old Sandra Pape King suffering from a gunshot wound. She was taken to a nearby hospital, where she later died.

NBC affiliate WESH spoke with neighbors who said what happened was “heartbreaking.”

“It’s heartbreaking that something like that happens to someone, kills someone, someone doing things like that,” a neighbor, Gerald Ingram, told WESH.

Another neighbor said they heard screaming and saw the 55-year-old woman “being shot to the ground in the driveway.”

Neighbors in the area also told WESH that the 11-year-old boy was throwing small tantrums “here and there” but thought this was normal for children that age.

“He looked like any other kid, you know. You see, he had a tantrum here and there. I think that was normal for a kid his age, you know. I have two daughters his age, so I didn’t think about it,” said neighbor Jackson Genao.

According to Ocoee police, the 11-year-old is now in custody. At this time, it is unclear what led to the shooting and what charges the face could face.
