Later this year, construction will begin in Queen Creek on a $120 million mixed-use project that will include restaurants, retail, offices and apartments.

The project called Switchyard has already signed its first restaurant tenants. The Porch will open a 11,900-square-foot restaurant with an expansive patio in the development, and Postino will open a 3,800-square-foot restaurant. Phoenix-based Creation, a commercial real estate developer with projects around the Valley, is the developer.

In total, the development will include 54,000 square meters of restaurant, retail and office space on 10 hectares of land.

Construction is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2024 and the project will open in phases, with the first phase opening in early 2026.

The project also includes an apartment complex, but a Creation spokesperson said the number of units for the complex has not yet been finalized.

“This exciting project helps bring the vision of our downtown to life,” Queen Creek Mayor Julia Wheatley said in a statement. “Featuring a dedicated restaurant and retail space, along with a boutique office, The Switchyard will provide a variety of options for residents and visitors in the heart of our community.
