7:30 am: 121,200 residents are still without power

More than 62,520 FPL customers are still without power in Manatee County and more than 58,680 in Sarasota County, according to the FPL Power Tracker.

Florida Power and Light Company estimates that nearly all residents in both counties will have their power restored by the end of the day Wednesday.

Sarasota County has set up distribution sites in four locations to provide water, food and tarp to those affected by Hurricane Milton. The locations are open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

  • Venice Community Center326 Nokomis Ave., Venice.

  • San Pedro Catholic Church14380 Tamiami Trail, North Harbor.

  • Englewood Sports Complex1300 S. River Road, Englewood.

  • Glebe Park1000 Glebe Lane, Sarasota.

Other locations in the communities also provide assistance:

  • 13th Avenue Dream Center: 922, 24th St. E, Bradenton; Sunday 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m.; Free distribution of bottled water; valid city ID required.

  • Streets of Paradise: 734 Central Ave., Sarasota; open daily from 9am to 5pm; with air conditioning, phone charging and some food and coffee while supplies last.

  • Bayside Community Church Lakewood Ranch Campus: 15800 E. Route 64, Bradenton; open from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm and from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm, October 12 to 18; meals and food drive-thru.

  • Bayside Community Church Bee Ridge Campus: 8200 Bee Ridge Road, Sarasota; open noon to 7 p.m. October 12-18; meals and food drive-thru.

The YMCA of Southwest Florida has opened most of its branches as community hubs to provide services and a place to go for residents affected by Hurricane Milton. YMCA membership is not required to access these services.

Residents with a Florida photo ID have access to showers, charging stations, free WiFi and shelter.

Nearly a dozen locations are open, but hours may vary. Visit your local YMCA’s Facebook page or the YMCA of Southwest Florida mobile app.
