(CBS-DETROIT) – A 13-year-old girl is in critical condition after she was struck by a car while riding her bicycle Wednesday afternoon in Livingston County.

Officers responded to the intersection of Farley Road and Lakeland Trail in Putnam Township after receiving a report of a crash involving a vehicle and a bicyclist.

When they arrived, they discovered a 2014 Ford Focus traveling on Farley Road approaching the intersection while a 13-year-old Pinckney girl was riding her bicycle on Lakeland Trail.

Authorities say the girl did not stop before entering the intersection and being struck.

She was taken to University of Michigan Hospital in critical condition. Additionally, the sheriff’s office says the girl was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.
