A 17-year-old boy has been arrested following a shooting after a high school football game in Riverside County, authorities said Thursday.

The shooting happened nearly a week earlier in Norco, on Friday, Sept. 13, when a crowd of more than 200 people gathered after a game and a fight broke out, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office said. The teen surrendered to deputies five days later, and sheriff’s officials say he is facing multiple counts of attempted murder.

The night of the shooting, officers responded to the 1800 block of Hamner Street, which is home to a shopping center with a bowling alley and an In N Out restaurant, just before 10 p.m. Investigators found that there had been an altercation between two groups of people and that a male suspect had fired multiple shots, sheriff’s officials said.

He fled the area before officers arrived. No one was injured.

Detectives later identified the suspected shooter as a Jurupa Valley resident and served search warrants as part of the investigation. But the teen remained at large for days.

On Wednesday, he turned himself in to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office’s Jurupa Valley Station and was booked into a juvenile detention center, officials said. He is not being identified because he is a minor.

Investigators believe there may be more victims and are asking anyone with information to come forward. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office can be reached at 951-955–2600.
