A 17-year-old driver died Tuesday, Oct. 22, in north Arlington after being ejected from his vehicle in a crash, police said.

Officers responded to the 2800 block of North Collins Street for a single-vehicle crash shortly before 10 p.m. According to police, witnesses said the 2007 Toyota Sienna minivan was traveling south at a high rate of speed before hitting a curb and flying into the air.

The minivan turned several times and landed in a field. According to police, the driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the car and died at the scene.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office has not publicly identified the 17-year-old.

The Arlington Police Department said it encourages everyone to wear a seat belt while in a vehicle and always obey the speed limit.
