According to authorities, five prison guards were rushed to hospital on Wednesday evening after being attacked by inmates.
A spokesperson for the Massachusetts Department of Corrections said they received a report around 6:20 p.m. that multiple officers had been injured at the Souza Baranowski Correctional Center.
According to officials, two guards were stabbed multiple times by inmates and three more guards were injured in the attack.
All five were transported to a nearby hospital. Their condition is unknown at this time.
The facility has been secured and an investigation into the facts and circumstances of the attacks is ongoing.
