Two San Francisco Police officers were injured Tuesday night when their motorcycles collided head-on with another vehicle, the department said.

At approximately 5 p.m., two San Francisco Police Department motorcycle officers were traveling westbound on Cesar Chavez Street near Pennsylvania Avenue when, for some reason not yet released by police, they collided head-on with another vehicle.

First responders arrived on scene to render aid to the two officers and the man driving the other vehicle. The officers and driver were taken to a local hospital and are expected to survive.

According to police, there is currently no evidence that driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision.

This is an open and active investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact SFPD at 415-575-4444 or send a tip to TIP411 and begin the message with SFPD.
