2nd suspect arrested in Mansfield shooting that left 17-year-old dead, police say

A second suspect has been arrested in connection with the Sept. 19 shooting that left a 17-year-old dead in Mansfield, police said.

Michael Adrean Spencer was taken into custody Wednesday by detectives with the Mansfield Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force. The 19-year-old is charged with murder, Mansfield police said in a news release.

Officers responded to the 800 block of Cutting Horse Drive on Sept. 19 for a welfare check. As they approached, they saw people performing CPR on the victim, police said.

The 17-year-old, identified as Julious David Rogers, died of gunshot wounds at a local hospital, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s website. His death has been ruled a homicide.

Elijah Hatton, 21, was arrested by Mansfield SWAT officers on Sept. 20, police said. He was booked into jail on suspicion of murder.

Hatton was being held Thursday in Tarrant County Jail on $200,000 bail, according to court documents.

The investigation into the fatal shooting is ongoing, police said. Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Mansfield police at 817-473-0211.
